All day, urgent has meant a ringing phone. A red exclamation mark next to an email. The conference call I need to dial into, right now. The document the client expects by noon.
But as day fades into night, in front of me are truly urgent things, the moments I need to grab onto before they slip away.
Running to find the camera so I can catch the crimson sky at its most vibrant point, before the red fades out to gray, another sunset dimming.
Taking two stairs at a time, running upstairs as my daughter laughs, "Come quick, Mama, come quick and see me. See what I'm doing."
Turning my cheek to catch a kiss from my husband as he breezes out the door.
Stopping to hear the last few notes of my little daughter's melody, as she sings aloud and works a jigsaw puzzle.
Run, catch it, my heart whispers. Catch it while it's crimson, while it's bright, while it's singing. This can't be missed.
